Blog – The Siege of Jadotville movie-click here The Siege of Jadotville came out in 2016 and is an action packed war film. The film is based on Declan Powers non-fiction book ‘The Siege at Jadotville: The Irish Army’s Forgotten Battle’. The book focuses on an Irish Army’s unit’s role in the United Nations operation in the Congo in the early 1960’s. They entered the fray on a Peacekeeping mission. The movie opens with the execution of the Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba which leads to a civil war. As per most ‘wars’ it is not about politics but money.
